Revolutionizing Water Sports: The Kguard Waterproof IPX8 Bag

Jon Santacoloma's Award-Winning Design Ensures Safety and Convenience

Introducing Kguard, a waterproof bag designed for smart keys, revolutionizing the way water sports enthusiasts handle their car keys. This innovative product, designed by Jon Santacoloma, offers a safe and convenient solution to a common problem faced by many outdoor activity enthusiasts.

The inspiration behind Kguard was to solve the problem of safely carrying electronic car keys during outdoor activities or action sports such as surfing, kitesurfing, windsurfing, bodyboarding, SUP, and kayaking. The result is a soft, non-irritant bag that protects the device, is gentle on the user's skin and wetsuit, and allows for free movement.

What sets Kguard apart from other products on the market is its unique properties. It is an IPX8 certified waterproof sealed bag, designed specifically for water sports. The question Santacoloma poses is, "What is more secure than having your key with you while into the water?"

The Kguard bag is made from a combination of silicone, rubber, polyester, and cotton. These materials were chosen for their suitability for saline environments, flexibility, visibility, softness, compression, and fast-drying properties. The bag is also IPX08 certified, indicating its ability to withstand depths of up to 40 meters.

Each Kguard bag comes with everything needed for secure use, including the bag itself, a main closure ring, a safety ring, a short lace for securing the bag to a wetsuit or swimsuit, and a long lace for hanging the bag around the neck. To ensure the product's longevity, users are advised to check the bag and accessories before each use, rinse with fresh water after use, let it dry outdoors away from direct heat sources, and periodically apply talc to the bag.

The design process for Kguard began in May 2019 in Sopelana and Plentzia. After patenting the product in several countries worldwide, it was launched on the market in July 2020. The design was based on extensive market research and prototyping, resulting in a unique sealing system and the selection of suitable materials for industrialization. The product's resistance to depths of up to 40 meters makes it the most resistant of its kind on the market.

In recognition of its innovative design and functionality, Kguard was awarded Silver in the A' Design Quality and Innovation Award in 2021. This prestigious award is given to top-of-the-line, creative, and professionally remarkable designs that demonstrate outstanding expertise and innovation.
